CONVERSATION LESSON - Shopping

Situation: You are in a department store to look for a birthday present for your mother.

A salesgirl approaches you.

Salesgirl: Excuse me sir, may I help you?  (‘Miss’ if you are a lady or ‘ma’am’ if you are married.)

You: Yes. I’m looking for a birthday present for my mother. Can you help me?

Salesgirl: Of course. What does your mother like?

You: She likes scarves and handbags.

Salesgirl: We have both. What colour does she like?

You: She likes red.

Salesgirl: Please wait. I will show you some red scarves and handbags.

(She returns with scarves and handbags.)

Salesgirl: Here you are, sir.

You: Thank you. These are great. I think I’ll take that red scarf.

Salesgirl: Good choice, sir. Please pay at the cashier and have a nice day.

You: Thanks again.
